Because Salvation In Nearer Now than When We Believed the Gospel

Romans 5:10 “now that we are reconciled, we shall be saved by His resurrection.”

Romans 12: 11 Knowing the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over, and the daylight is near, so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Luke 21:28 –Your redemption draws near

Ephesians 1: 13 When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. 14 The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory.

Christ is not paying in “installments” for our redemption. Christ Died for the Elect Once for all Time. The benefits of redemption are coming to the elect in “installments”.

Ephesians 4:30– “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

God in Time Imputes Christ’s Death and CAUSES those for whom Christ died to BELIEVE THE GOSPEL

Romans 5: 11 We rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have NOW received this reconciliation through Him. Receiving the reconciliation is not the reconciliation. Receiving the reconciliation is not yet our glorification and resurrection on that future day when Christ comes back to earth.

The reconciliation is what Christ obtained by Christ’s temporary death. After Christ died, Christ rose again. Christ is not still dying. The reconciliation by God before God is still and always will be the reconciliation  (objective and real)

The temporary death of Christ was unlike the permanent death of  the condemned. If the non-elect will be always dying but never dead, then they will not be dead.

1.  Christ is not still dying. Christ was dead, Christ is no longer dead.

Romans 6:9-10 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more. Death no longer lords it over Him. Christ died to sin once for all time

2.  If the condemned non-elect will never die because they will have never been tortured enough, the wages of sin is not death.

Romans 6: 23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is lasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Not all the elect have been justified yet. We must not identify election and justification. We must not identify atonement and justification. All the elect in God’s time will receive the reconciliation by God’s imputation.

The justified elect (those who believe the gospel ) are really  righteous now, not because of their new birth, but because of their justification by God. Legally in Christ, they now share in His righteousness. The atonement (reconciliation) imputed results in actual justification before God.

Though Christ has already been glorified, and the justified are in in Christ and in Christ’s righteousness, none of the elect have yet been glorified. They have not yet been given immortality. John 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but the one who came from there.

Romans 8: 24 Now in this hope we were saved, yet hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.

Hebrews 11:39-40 “and all these did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they would not be made perfect.”

Tianqi Wu—It is not possible for us to have a change of legal state without also being converted to the gospel. To be “enslaved to righteousness” is to be BOTH imputed with Christ’s death and obedient to the gospel about that death accomplished and imputed.

Romans 6: 10 Christ died to sin once for all time… 11 So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin but ALIVE TO GOD IN CHRIST JESUS 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey sin’s desires. 13 And do not offer any parts of your body to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But AS THOSE WHO ARE ALIVE FROM THE DEAD offer yourselves to God… 17 Thanks be to God that you were slaves of
sin, but you OBEYED from the heart the form of DOCTRINE to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness

Psalm 32– 1 How joyful is the one
whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 How joyful is the one
the Lord does not charge with sin
and in whose spirit is no deceit.

5 But THEN I acknowledged my sin to You
and did not conceal my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and You took away the guilt of my sin

Romans 8: 1 No condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus, 2 because the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Tianqi Wu—The people who have been legally justified by Christ’s atoning sacrifice are identified by their conversion to “walking by the gospel” To be “walking according to Spirit” is to have one’s confidence in the verdict of God’s gospel, rather than in our experiences and works

2 Peter 1: 1 To those who have obtained a faith of equal privilege with our faith THROUGH THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tianqi Wu –The meaning of Christ’s death on the cross cannot be known apart from faith in Christ revealed in the gospel about God’s declaration of justification. Justification of all the elect at the time of the cross (or from eternity)” is a false attempt to exalt “it is finished” at the expense of “truth shall make you free”. The idea of justification without faith or before faith strips away the power of the gospel.

“The gospel of Christ — is the power of God unto salvation, to every one that believes” — Romans 1:16.

“God be thanked, you were THEN the servants of sin, but yOUR have obeyed, from the heart, the doctrine into which you were delivered” — Romans 6:17.

“The word of the cross, is to us who are saved the power of God” — 1 Corinthians 1:18.

“The gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved” — 1 Corinthians 15:1, 2.

“He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ” — 2 Thessalonians 2:14.

Tianqi Wu–In a false view of the meaning of “we died with Christ” language in Romans 6 (in order to support the error of all the elect justified at the cross) the elect were baptized into Christ PRIOR TO the completion of Christ’s death, so that when He died, the elect died with Him. In this false view, the elect were not legally placed into a FINISHED death, but were already legally in Christ as He was dying on the cross.

This view has terrible consequences. It changes the nature of Christ’s death on the cross from a substitutionary sacrifice, made by the holy Lamb apart from the presence of sinners, to a corporate (collective) death in the body of a legal representative, in which the legal subject of death is no longer Christ alone but Christ legally joined with the elect sinners. In this false view, Christ no longer died alone by Himself to redeem His elect in order to justify them in God’s time

This is a terrible time. Many who profess to believe in Jesus in Lord have put their trust in Trimp or in a political resistance to health regulations. At this time, let us be patient. Let us rejoice in Christ’s resurrection and in Christ’s future coming. Let us rejoice in that temporary  period of time when God’s Son (God Elect) became imputed with all the guilt of all the elect when the Word became incarnate (conceived in the womb of Mary) and THEN died on the cross under the magistrate Pilate.

I Peter 1:18 You were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, the lamb without defect or blemish. Christ was chosen before the ages but revealed at the end of the ages  for you  who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

But AS THOSE WHO ARE ALIVE FROM THE DEAD offer yourselves to God… 17 Thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you OBEYED from the heart the form of DOCTRINE to which you were delivered. And HAVING BEEN set free from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness

  1. Mark Mcculley Says:

I Timothy 2: 24 The Lord’s slave must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient, 25 instructing with
gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. 26 THEN they will come to their senses and escape the Devil’s trap

II Thessalonians 2: They perish because they did not accept the love
of the truth in order to be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false, 12 so that
they will be condemned—those who did not believe the truth but enjoyed unrighteousness.

Tianqi Wu —The difference between someone who has decorated his old self-justifying program with more appearance of light, vs someone to whom a righteousness of God obtained in the death of Christ has been revealed and is now found in this righteousness according to God’s effectual calling, is that the justified before God person lays aside all other claims to righteousness as dung and yoke, and rests in Christ’s death and resurrection

Tianqi Wu An excuse to compromise on the truth is advertised as
“humility.” But compromise on the truth is pride – extreme pride –
because it is to presume to sit in judgment of truth. The gospel is
not something to be molded by religionists for their worldly peace and dominion, but the power of God unto salvation to everyone believing the gospel . The promise of the gospel is good news for the justified elect who were not and are not sovereign to decide what should be true, but who depend on the sovereign mercy of the one who raised Jesus from the dead

Christ’s death was not a bribe to get God to forgive sins
Christ’s death not only paid off all debts, because Christ’s death also purchased every FUTURE blessing  (Romans 8:32, Christ plus every other benefit )

Of course we would stipulate that God’s justice demands that they will not die in that unjustified state. But how can we explain that temporary legal condemnation when we are also teaching a substitution by Christ for their sins?

How could Abraham ever have been condemned and guilty, if Christ’s death was punishment for all of Abraham’s sins?

I Corinthians 5:21. Christ was not only made to be the sin offering. Christ was made to be sin. Christ was made to be the sin offering because Christ was first made to be sin. Guilt was transferred to Christ. As the justified become the righteousness because of the transfer of righteousness, Christ was condemned because of the
transfer of the guilt of sin.  The parallel is between becoming guilty and becoming justified. When guilt was transferred to Christ, He was
then guilty. When Christ’s righteousness is transferred to the elect, then the elect become the righteousness.

Can and does God pardon you in advance not only of the punishment but also the guilt?

Does a pardon eliminate not only the punishment but also the investigation  and prosecution of the sin?  (You never knew, you never confessed)

Will future lies to the investigation be covered by the pardon?
Do we still need to prosecute, so that in the end there will be something to pardon?

Even though Jesus died for all their sins, the elect are still punished for some of their sins until they are justified?

Even though Jesus died for all their sins, the elect are still guilty for Adam’s sin and their sins until they are justified?

      https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/12/03/rudy-giuliani-erupts-pardon-question-michigan-nr-vpx.cnn

A pardoned person must introduce the pardon into court proceedings, otherwise the pardon must be disregarded by the court. To do this, the pardoned person must accept the pardon. If a pardon is rejected, it cannot be forced upon its subject. United States v. Burdick was about the ability to turn down a pardon.

      washingtonpost.com/outlook/five-myths/five-myths-about-presidential-pardons/2018/06/06/18447f84-69ba-11e8-bf8c-f9ed2e672adf_story.html?fbclid=IwAR0VLsDJqL3qb3_201Tdv

Do you have to accept that Jesus died for you in order for His death to work for you? Or Does the death of Jesus work for you unless you turn it down?

“Moral hazard” cannot be applied only to individuals as freeloaders and parasites. The term also describes banks and corporations “too
big to fail” If the collective of the wealthy ultimately decides what the “exception” is to what is lawful and righteous, then banks and
corporations are the exception that is “the decider”. Wealth decides what is righteous. (just)

There NEVER really was any separation between church (religion) and “our government” having the patriotic prerogative to take human life.

To believe  that “financial markets” one day eluded the grasp of politics  is nothing but a fairy tale. It was nation-states in close collusion with private actors that fashioned rules conducive to the expansion of market finance. Dardot and Laval, New Way of the World : On Neoliberal Society

“our government” and “an act of God”—that IS “political theology”

Luke 10: 30 A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion. 34 He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him. When I come back I WILL PAY YOU for whatever extra you spend.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?”
37 “The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him, “Go and do the same.”

death, and He was heard because of His reverence. 8 Though He was God’s Son, He LEARNED obedience through what He suffered. 9 After He
was perfected, He became the source of lasting salvation for all who obey Him

  2. Mark Mcculley Says:

Giovanni—While it is true that, if one is called by God, then they will be called out of false religion, it is not true that listening to and believing lies prior to the truth “doesn’t matter.” Believing a lie is never a neutral thing. Believing a lie is sinful. Consequently, my unbelief prior to believing the gospel is sin for which Christ bore guilt and died.

The gospel is not a form of “all is well that ends well.” The gospel tells us that real sins of certain sinners demanded real death of the Son of God. While all will “end” well for the elect, one cannot trivialize unbelief.

Giovanni—I have been  told that my beliefs demand the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what a child is raised to believe BECAUSE if they are called, then God will convert them to the truth. This is a non-sequitur. While it is true that God alone converts to the truth, I disagree with the premise that teaching lies “doesn’t matter.”

The lies believed by those who don’t know the gospel are the devil’s trap, from which they cannot escape apart from God granting repentance. We who are NOW  “servants of righteousness” are to  be KIND to everyone, able to teach and to patiently enduring evil.   I Corinthians 13  ‘Love rejoices with the truth.”

Must Grace Have Been Bestowed on your Children before you can teach them God’s law?

  3. Mark Mcculley Says:

God never began to elect and love all those God will justify by the
    death of God’s Son
God will never stop loving the elect because God never began loving the elect
But this does not mean that God has always justified God’s elect.

Romans 4:11 Abraham is the father of all who believe but are not
circumcised, so God’s righteousness in Christ will be imputed to them also.

Romans 4:12 Abraham is the father of those who follow in the
footsteps of the FAITH Abraham HAD while Abraham was still
    uncircumcised.

The Abrahamic covenant was also made in order to become obsolete. The Abrahamic covenant was not an “administration” of the new covenant. The Abrahamic covenant was not an “administration” of some other “timeless” covenant.

The promises of the Abrahamic covenant about retaining the land show the weakness of the children of Abraham. Israel was never meant to be the second Adam. Only one child of Abraham is the last Adam.

Romans 5: 14 Death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam. Adam is a type of Him who was to come.

Romans 8: 3 What law could not do since law was limited by the flesh, God did when God condemned sin in the flesh by sending God’s own Son in flesh like ours for sin

1 Corinthians 15:45 So it is written: The first man Adam became a
living being; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.

James Haldane –“although an oath was made to Abraham, securing the blessing to all families of the earth through him, this does not prove that the covenant made with him was the new covenant… This was a promise that the Savior, revealed immediately after the fall, Genesis 3:15. should spring from him… To call this the covenant of grace, is only calculated to mislead. Surely it was peculiar to Abraham that Christ should spring from him.”

  4. Mark Mcculley Says:

    Trump’s “baseless claims”
    They hated me for free
They hated me for no reason
John 15:25 They hated me for no cause
justified freely, but not apart from Christ’s redeeming death
Romans 3:24 They are justified WITHOUT A CAUSE (freely) by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Claims about sovereign grace do tend to sequester grace from our ethics (the antithesis).
But Christ was only able to die to obtain righteousness because Christ was righteous and lived righteously. So cannot we move from the righteous life of Christ to find a pattern for “our own ethical life of righteousness”?

  5. Mark Mcculley Says:

Matthew 5: 4 Those who mourn are blessed,
    for they will be comforted.
    5 The gentle are blessed,
for they will inherit the earth.
Philippians 3: 20 but our commonwealth is from heaven. From there we eagerly wait here for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
”1) Caesar goes out with his army; (2) they dominate the enemy; (3)
they return in glorious triumph; and (4) the people welcome Caesar as their savior. So Paul cleverly hacks this system and declares that we await the sovereign Jesus “from there.” Caesar’s promise of domination does not make us wait in eager expectation. No, Paul explains, we have stopped waiting for that kind of spectacle. We are looking the other way, in Christ’s direction https://theotherjournal.com/2019/05/09/pauls-politics-notes-on-a-letter-from-prison/?fbclid=IwAR0qO71aYJ0A4Wbb0CcnI6FkTtNQV88Ay6qBImUigAi9A82VvnvM62e-wxQ
