We Do Not Know How Long or Short This Present Age Is, But Then Comes Future Resurrection and Immortality

I Corinthians 2: 7 The rulers of THIS AGE are coming to nothing. 7 God’s HIDDEN wisdom God predestined BEFORE THE AGES for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, because if they had known this wisdom , they would not have crucified the Lord of glory

Galatians 4: 3  We WERE in slavery under the elemental forces of the WORLD. 9 But NOW WE KNOW  God, or rather have BECOME KNOWN by God

Ephesians 3 :9 The mystery hidden for AGES in God who created ALL THINGS is now made known to the rulers and authorities.

John 18: 36  “If my kingdom were FROM THIS WORLD,  my servants would kill. But my kingdom is NOT FROM THIS WORLD

The word “world” in the Bible sometimes means God’s physical creation. Sometimes the word “world” in the Bible means a group of human creatures  (either all those who have not yet believed the gospel, or all those who have believed the gospel). But often the translation “world” refers to an age, an indefinite period of time.

Galatians 1: 4 Our Lord Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this PRESENT EVIL AGE  according to the will of our God and Father. 5 To him be the glory for the age

Mark 4: 19  The worries of this age and the desires for OTHER THINGS enter in and choke the word, and the seed becomes unfruitful.

I John 2: 16 Everything IN THE WORLD —the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions—is not from the Father, but is FROM THE WORLD 17 And the WORLD WITH ITS LUSTS is passing away, but the one who does the will of God will  remain

Hebrews 1: 1 Long ago God spoke to our fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these LAST DAYS , God has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed the Son heir of ALL THINGS and made the AGES through the Son . 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of God’s nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, God the Son  SAT DOWN at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
8 God says to the Son–Your throne, God, is for the AGE

Psalm 45: 6 Your throne, God, is for the AGE–The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice.

Hebrews 5: 6 God said to the Son– You are a priest to the AGE according to the order of Melchizedek.

Psalm 110: 4 The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back–“You are a priest to the AGE “

In the future, when there is no more sin or sinners, there will be no more priest.

Revelation 22:21  I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple according to the pattern of Melchizedek.”

Colossians 3:  You died and YOUR LIFE is NOW hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is YOUR LIFE appears, then YOU also will appear WITH HIM in glory”

I Corinthians 15: 51 We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
53 For this corruptible must be clothed with incorruptibility,
and this mortal must be clothed with immortality.

There was dust here on earth before there was a “living soul”. There was God’s breath (spirit) before there was a “living soul”. But there was no pre-existing “ eternal soul” before and without the dust and the breath from God To be a soul, you need a body. To be a living soul, you need life from God. But every human life from God that comes biologically through Adam is mortal, because Adam was mortal.

Adam had a supernatural origin
Eve had a supernatural origin
Jesus Christ had a supernatural BIRTH
Mary was the seed of Adam
Jesus was the seed of Adam.
Mary is not the one to save Eve
Jesus Christ is the only Savior

We all began in guilt and nobody’s history in guilt ended until they were imputed with Christ’s death

Romans 6: 4  As Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also walk in a new life Romans 6 11 Consider yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

But even the elect now justified before God already in this age are NOT YET given immortality.

Romans 6: 5 We WILL CERTAINLY also be in the likeness of His resurrection.

Romans 6: 23 The wages of sin is DEATH, but the GIFT of God is lasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

in Christ all will be made alive.

I Corinthians 15 :23 Each in his own order– Christ, the first-fruits. THEN, at his coming, those who belong to Christ. 24 THEN COMES THE END when Christ hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when God the Father abolishes all rule and all authority and power. 25 For Christ must REIGN UNTIL God the Father puts all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be abolished is death.

I Corinthians 15: 45 It is written,  The first man Adam became a living being (Genesis 2:7) The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

I Corinthians 15:48 Like the man from dust, so are those who are from the dust. Like the man from heaven, so are those who are from heaven. 49  As we have borne the image of the man of dust, we also WILL BEAR the image of the man from heaven.

Immortality will only be given by God to those who God justifies before God , not when God chose them, and not even when God justified them, but only when God the Son returns to earth. God the Son has been raised from death, but the age to come will not arrive for those given to God the Son until God the Son returns to earth. Only then, at some indefinite time (long or short) from now, will the present evil age end and then immortality will be God’s gift for those God loves.

I Timothy 6: 12 Fight the good fight for the faith. take hold of lasting life that you were called to and have made a good confession about in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the presence of God who gives life, I charge you to keep the command UNTIL THE APPEARING of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 God will bring this about in GOD’S OWN TIME. God is the blessed and only Sovereign, THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS IMMORTALITY.

2  Timothy 4: 6  The time for my  DEPARTURE is close. 7  I have FINISHED THE RACE 8 There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me ON THAT DAY and not only to me, but to all those who have loved HIS APPEARING

Notice that this does waiting for the age to come does NOT mean that we don’t care about but Jesus or His future coming. In 2 Timothy 4, Paul immediately writes– 9 Make every effort to COME TO ME SOON 10 Demas has deserted me, because  he loved THIS PRESENT WORLD

1 Timothy 6:17 Instruct those who are rich in the PRESENT AGE not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God who richly provides us with ALL THINGS TO ENJOY

Philippians 3: 12 Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of the goal because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13… Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, 14 I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3: 20 Our citizenship is from heaven. FROM HEAVEN we eagerly WAIT for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. 21 When He comes, Jesus will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.

John 12: 25 The one who loves their life will lose their life , and the one who hates their life IN THIS WORLD  will keep LASTING LIFE

John 1: 10 The true light was in the world, and the WORLD was created through him, and yet the WORLD did not recognize him

John 3: 1 7 For God did not send God’s Son INTO THE WORLD to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him

John 6:14 Then the people said, “This truly is the Prophet who is to come into the WORLD.”

John 9: 5 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 14: 22 How is it  that you are going to reveal yourself to us and NOT TO THE WORLD?

I Corinthians 2: 12 We have NOT received the spirit of the WORLD.  We have received  the Spirit who comes from God, so that we  understand what has been FREELY GIVEN to us by God.

I Corinthians 3: 19 The wisdom of THIS WORLD  is foolishness with God

I Corinthians 7: 29 : The time is limited now . THIS WORLD in its current form is passing away

I Corinthians 11: 29 We are disciplined, so that we not be condemned with the WORLD.

Hebrews 1: 2 God made the AGES  through the Son .

Hebrews 11: 3 By faith we understand that the ages were created by the word of God, so that what is seen was MADE OUT OF what was not visible.

Ephesians 2:  You WERE DEAD  in your sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this age

Romans 6: 17 But God be thanked, that ye WERE the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine whereto ye were delivered 18 Being THEN made free from sin, you BECAME the servants of righteousness.

David Adkins– “BEING THEN” not BEFORE THEN!” Along with the true gospel form of doctrine God imputed
God’s Son’s Righteousness Obtained by His to individual elect persons. THE LEGAL STATE of these persons WAS PERMANENTLY CHANGED from a state of guilt and condemnation ( sins imputed to us ) to a legal STATE OF JUSTIFICATION, NOT GUILTY, JUSTIFIED by Christ’s Righteousness Accomplished by His death imputed to us.

Titus 1:1  The faith of God’s elect and the KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH that leads to godliness in the hope of lasting life that God promised before the ages

Titus 2: 11 The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation, instructing us to deny worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in THE PRESENT AGE 13 while we wait for the blessed HOPE, the  APPEARING OF THE GLORY of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

James Baldwin –We need to lay bare the questions that have been hidden by the answers.”
The permanent lie–“the consistent and total substitution of
falsehood in the place of factual truth”
There’s something democratic about gnosticism. “Recognize what is before your eyes,” the gospel of Thomas advises, “and that which is hidden will be revealed.” Gnosticism CALIMS that to know the truth, one needs no “data” inductively collected by “experts.” Knowledge lies not in scholarship or information but only in the individual “soul” within us.

evangelical Mike Pence has no shame– To Dr. Nancy Messonnier

God the Son did not purchase election
The elect are God the Father’s gift to God the Son
God the Son is God the Father’s gift to the elect
Romans 8: 32 God the Father did not even spare God’s own Son
but offered Him up FOR US, how will God the Father NOT ALSO GIVE HIM (God the Son) and give us everything?
33 Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect?
God is the One who justifies.

  3. Mark Mcculley Says:

507, “Punishment God Cannot Twice Inflict”—Garry J Williams —“My argument stands against an unspecified penal satisfaction narrowed only by its application. The sacrifice for sin in Scripture is itself specific…If the penal substitution of Christ has no relation to one person’s sin, then it is not in itself God’s actual answer to any sin, and therefore not penal at all…An unspecified “No” is not an answer to anything; it is without meaning….I cannot see how anyone who excludes the identification of Christ’s satisfaction itself with the specific sins of specific individuals can avoid the logical outcome of denying its truly penal character.

Garry J Williams, From Heaven He Came and Sought Her, ed Gibson, Crossway, 2013, p 513—”The notion that the lost will be punished for the sin of unbelief and not for sin in general allows Lutherans and Arminians to hold that Jesus died for every general sin of every individual, and yet not all must be saved, because unbelievers may still be justly condemned for their unbelief since Christ did not die for it. This reply limits the sins for which Christ died.”

Williams: “The Lutherans and Arminians have created a difficulty with biblical texts referring to the sins for which Christ died. Every affirmation that sins have been borne by Christ must now be understood to contain a tacit restriction—except the sin of unbelief….If a sinner believes and becomes a Christian at age forty, since the Lutherans teach that Christ did not die for the sin of unbelief, this means that Christ did not die for this man’s sin of unbelief committed over forty years

AW Pink– “Kosmos” is used of the Universe as a whole: Acts 17: 24 – “God that made the world and all things therein seeing that He is Lord of heaven
and earth.” is used of the Universe as a whole: Acts 17: 24 – “God that made the world and all things therein seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth.”

“Kosmos” is used of the PHYSICAL earth: John 13:1; Eph. 1:4, etc., etc.- “When Jesus knew that his hour was come that He should depart out of this
world unto the Father, having loved His own which were in the world He loved them unto the end.” “Depart out of this world” signifies, leave
this earth. “According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world.”

“Kosmos” is used of the world-system: John 12:31 etc. “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the Prince of this world be cast
out”— compare Matt. 4:8 and I John 5:19

“Kosmos” is used of the whole human race: Rom. 3: 19, etc.—”Now we know that what things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth be stopped, and all the world become guilty before God.”

“Kosmos” is used of humanity minus believers: John 15:18; Rom. 3:6 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you.” Believers do not “hate” Christ, so that “the world” here must signify the world of unbelievers in contrast from believers who love Christ. “God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world.” Here is another
passage where “the world” cannot mean “you, me, and everybody,” for
believers will not be “judged” by God, see John 5:24. So that here, too, it must be the world of unbelievers which is in view. is used of humanity minus believers: John 15:18; Rom. 3:6 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you.” Believers do not “hate” Christ, so that “the world” here must signify the world of unbelievers in contrast from believers who love Christ. “God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world.” Here is another passage where “the world” cannot mean “you, me, and everybody,” for believers will not be “judged” by God, see John 5:24. So that here, too, it must be the world of unbelievers which is in view.

“Kosmos” is used of Gentiles in contrast from Jews: Rom. 11:12 etc. “Now if the fall of them (Israel) be the riches of the world, and the
diminishing of them (Israel) the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their (Israel’s) fulness.” Note how the first clause in italics is
defined by the latter clause placed in italics. Here, again, “the world” cannot signify all humanity for it excludes Israel!

“Kosmos” is used of believers only: John 1:29; 3:16, 17; 6:33; 12;47; I Cor. 4:9; 2 Cor. 5:19. We leave our readers to turn to these
passages, asking them to note, carefully, exactly what is said and predicated of “the world” in each place. is used of believers only:
John 1:29; 3:16, 17; 6:33; 12;47; I Cor. 4:9; 2 Cor. 5:19. Thus it will be seen that “kosmos” has at least seven clearly defined different meanings in the New Testament.

The principal subject of John 3:16 is Christ as the Gift of God. The first clause tells us what moved God to “give” His
only begotten Son, and that was His great “love;” the second clause informs us for whom God “gave” His Son, and that is for, “whosoever
(or, better, ‘every one’) believeth;” while the last clause makes known why God “gave” His Son (His purpose), and that is, that everyone
that believeth “should not perish but have everlasting life.” That “the world” in John 3:16 refers to the world of believers (God’s
elect), in contradistinction from “the world of the ungodly” (2 Pet. 2:5), is established, unequivocally established, by a comparison of
the other passages which speak of God’s “love.” “God commends His love toward US”—the saints, Rom. 5:8. “Whom the Lord loveth He chastens”—every son, Heb. 12:6. “We love Him, because He first loved US”—believers, I John 4:19. The wicked God “pities” (see Matt. 18:33). Unto the unthankful and evil God is “kind” (see Luke 6:35). The vessels of wrath He endures “with much long-suffering” (see Romans 9:22). But “His own” God “loves”

  4. Mark Mcculley Says:

onathan Gibson, “The Glorious, Indivisible, Trinitarian Work of Christ”, From Heaven He Came, p 355—Interestingly, this verse has been neglected in Constantine Campbell’s otherwise comprehensive treatment of union with Christ (PAUL AND UNION WITH CHRIST, Zondervan, 2013)

2 Corinthians 5: 14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

”Some conclude that the efficacy of Christ’s work occurs only at the point of faith, and not before. This ignores the fact that election in Christ precedes any reception of Christ’s work by faith. It is Christ’s death  that leads to the efficacy of Christ’s work in those who belong to Him.”

  5. Mark Mcculley Says:

Herman Bavinck, Sin and Salvation, volume 3, Reformed Dogmatics, 2006, p 469—-”The center of gravity has been shifted from Christ and located in the Christian. Faith (not the atonement) has become the reconciliation with God.”

Jonathan Gibson, From Heaven, p 358—-“Election and the Atonement do not operate on separate theological tracks. What God has joined together, let no theologian separate. Affirming union with Christ before the moment of redemption accomplished counters any disjunction between the effect of Christ’s death and the effect of His resurrection. (Those who put union later) sound as if Christ’s death might lead to the death of some sinners, but not also to their resurrection. This is not only analogy. if one, then the other. if death with, then resurrection with Christ. https://markmcculley.wordpress.com/2011/08/20/does-it-honor-christ-to-put-the-atonement-before-the-election/

  6. Mark Mcculley Says:

The example-based model (whether marriage or monasticism) is completely heterogeneous with regard to the exception-based model of the law.
I don’t think Agamben would claim that we need to go through this process to the end and then things will reverse into wonderfulness. Rather, he uses Benjamin’s language of “stopping” what’s happening now. Instead of making everything exceptional, he wants to make everything exemplary. The “exceptional” in context is always “suspending for right now” the example we should be following.

Romans 12: 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind, so you discern what is the good.

Romans 12: 11 Do not lack diligence in zeal. Be fervent in the Spirit.
Serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope. Be patient in suffering . Be
    persistent in prayer.

Hiroshima day—I have no confidence that the American Empire making an exception for itself 75 years ago is not something Trump would not do this

In early Roman religion “sacer” denotes anything “set apart” and has
BOTH the sense of “sacred” and also “cursed”. The sacred OUTLAW is defined in legal terms as someone who can be killed without the killer being regarded as a murderer BUT ALSO as a person who cannot be sacrificed. The sacred outlaw is someone OUTSIDE THE LAW. With respect to certain magistrates (cops, the president) the concepts of sovereign and sacred immunity are identical. The chosen one does not want you to panic about all the deaths (which are not really happening, or not because of covid) but the chosen one does want to panic you (even to violence) because now some Republicans are in league with the socialists (who want Trump to pay for his crimes and debts)

  7. Mark Mcculley Says:

Philippians 1:20-I hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor FOR ME. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.

What are we hoping to gain? The Roman Catholic tradition assumes that “to die is gain” is hope for Paul to get off earth and straight to heaven, and rushes right past any idea of “fruitful labor” FOR ME. 2 Corinthians 4:10 We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, in order that the life of Jesus also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who live are always given over to death because of Jesus, in order that Jesus’ life also be revealed in our mortal flesh.

Instead of teaching a message of true hope, many preachers support large armies killing for the sake of their “religious freedom”, and use a Bible text about apostolic suffering to assure their comfortable clients that they will go straight to heaven when they die. No need to wait for the “hope that comes from resurrection”, when you can be assured of the hope that comes from having an “immortal soul”. You get a body now as soon as you die, and since no body is the real you, then you can trade that body in for that different new body you get when Jesus comes. But since you are created in the image of God, no body will ever be you, because you are like God. This is the message which is supposedly safe and non-controversial and which will allow us to agree on other more important things.
John 8: 21 Then Jesus said to them again, “I’m going away; you will look for Me, and you will die in your sin. Where I’m going, you cannot come.” 22 So they said: “He won’t kill Himself, will He, since He says, ‘Where I’m going, you cannot come’?” 23 “You are from below,” Jesus told them, “I am from above. You are FROM THIS WORLD . I am not FROM THIS WORLD. 24 If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

  8. Mark Mcculley Says:

In Albert Camus’s The Plague, the main character, Dr. Rieux, tries to explain why he continues battling the disease that has destroyed his city when his efforts have made no difference. He is, he admits, simply “fighting against creation as he found it.” Rieux’s
struggle is both heroic and quixotic—heroic because quixotic, I think Camus would say. Rieux is beyond Christianity but still  talking about “the creation”, and  the idea that we are fundamentally AT ODDS WITH THE WORLD WE INHABIT

Revelation 6: 7 When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of
the fourth living creature say, “Come. 8 And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. The horseman on it was named Death, and Hades was following after him. Authority was given to them.

2 Samuel 24: 10 David’s conscience troubled him after he had taken a census of the troops. 11 When David got up in the morning, a
revelation from the Lord had come to the prophet Gad 12 “Go and say to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am offering you three choices. 13 So Gad went to David, told him the choices, and asked him, “Do you want three years of famine to come on your land, to flee from your foes three months while they pursue you, or to have a plague in your land three days? ” 14 David answered Gad, “I have great ANXIETY
Please, let us fall into the Lord’s hands because His mercies are
great, but don’t let me fall into human hands.” 17 When David saw
the angel striking the people, he said to the Lord, “Look, I am the
one who has sinned; I am the one who has done wrong. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let Your hand be against me and my father’s family.”
