Our Glorification, God’s Future Gift, not a Result of Our Capitalist Violence

I Peter 1: 5 You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is READY TO BE REVEALED AT THE LAST TIME. 6 You rejoice in this, though now for a SHORT TIME you have had to struggle in various trials 7 in order that the genuineness of your faith will result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, YOU BELIEVE IN HIM and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 because you are receiving salvation, the goal of your faith

Tianqi Wu –False theology in “non-political matters” results in the endorsement of a status quo social order antithetical to the kingdom ethics of Jesus.

Matthew 6: “Don’t collect for yourselves treasures… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…..24 No one can be a slave of two masters, since either they will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money.

Matthew 7: Beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside they are plundering wolves.

I Cor 15:25 Jesus must reign until He has put all things in subjection to Him

I am told that we should only talk about “future things”, and not about the secular here and now. But we live in the time that remains before Christ’s second coming . The difference between Imminent and Immanent is important. Imminent is soon, but immanent is here now in this world

Is God already living with us in history? Is God still in history? Are you still in history? Will Apocalypse make history go away? Does Emergency make history better? Is this Age an Exception?

The “sovereign power” of corporations and the nation-states that support outlaw powers do not now subject themselves either to God’s law or to human laws. The state of exception has become normal. It’s not only the humans in Guantanamo Bay who are living in a Concentration Camp occupied by slave masters.

Genesis 3:  4 “No! You will not die,” the serpent said

Luke 4:  5 Satan  showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world — “I will give
You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given
over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. 7 If You will worship
me,all these will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered Satan, “It is written:
Worship the Lord your God and serve God  only.”

Colossians 2: 15 God who raised Christ from the dead  disarmed the
rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly.  God triumphed
over the powers by Christ.

We humans were born in God’s image but we humans were born different from God (who was not born) . We humans are born sinners, unlike God (also unlike Adam the human). The life of Jesus explains the difference between God and humans. The life of Jesus explains the difference between God and sinners. Humans born in the image of God sin against both God’s law and God’s gospel. Our sins dishonor God

Romans 1: 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie….and God handed them over to a worthless mind to do what is MORALLY WRONG . 29 They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil …They even applaud others who practice these sins

God is not the created world. The universe is not divine. The created world is not God. The created world depends completely on God. The created world is not nothing, but the created world will never be “on its own”.

God is not a thing . God is not an idol we create . God is not our idea. Our idea of God is not God. God’s created world is an object. The created world belongs to God.

Our creation in this world is God’s gift. This created world is God’s gift.
Christ’s incarnation was a gift. Christ’s resurrection was a gift . Christ’s incarnation was not a payment for sin. Christ’s resurrection was not a payment for sin

Romans 11: 29 God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable.

Romans 11: 35 Who has ever first given to God
and needs to be repaid?
Who has given to God, so that now God pays them back?

Luke 14: 12 Jesus “When you give a dinner don’t invite your friends or your rich neighbors, because they could invite you back, and you would be repaid. 13 On the contrary, when you give a dinner, invite those who are poor and you will be blessed, because the poor cannot repay you.

I Corinthians 4: 7 What makes you morally superior to the poor? What do you have that you did not receive? Why do you boast as if you had earned everything you have received ?

Capitalists reject the idea of unselfish love. Capitalist zero sum logic assumes that not even God loves unselfishly. Capitalists worship a QUID PRO QUO God who says ” I will love you only if you do a favor for me”.

Some of these “Christians” say that they owe Jesus for dying for them, but these “Christians” also think that Jesus will owe them if they accept that Jesus died for them. “I get as much from Jesus as Jesus gets from me accepting Jesus.”

Self-righteous folks with a “taste for work” attempt to make a distinction between “justification by works” and their own “work ethic” which condemns the poor for their poverty. The capitalist WANTS TO GET PAID.

“I get as much out of giving as those who I give to do….”

2 Corinthians 8: 9 You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ: Though He was rich, for your sake He became poor, in order that by His poverty you would become rich
13 It is not that there be relief for others and hardship for you, but
it is a question of EQUALITY— 14 at the present time your surplus is available for their need, in order that their abundance also become available for need, in order that there be equality.

Philippians 3: 3 We boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence
in the flesh—
I HAVE considered what I used to think was gain to me to now be lost
because of Christ. 8 I continue to consider everything to be a loss
in view of the surpassing value of KNOWING Christ Jesus my Lord. I
consider John Macarthur’s big congregation as garbage,

In order to gain Christ 10 My GOAL is to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. My GOAL is to know the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings, being conformed to His death,

Our glorification when Jesus comes again to earth will be God’s gift.

Jeremiah 9: 24 but let them who boast boast in this, that they
understand and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast
love, justice, and righteousness ON EARTH. For in these things I
delight, declares the Lord.”

Romans 8:23 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are
not worth comparing with the glory that is GOING TO BE revealed to
us…..we ourselves who have the Holy Spirit as the first-fruits—we
groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for ADOPTION, the redemption
of our bodies.

2 Corinthians 11: 21 I dare to boast 22 Are they Jews? So am I.
Are they Israelites? So am I.
Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.
23 Are they servants of Christ?
I’m talking like an insane person
with far more labors,
many more imprisonments,
far worse beatings, near death many times.
24 Five times I received 39 lashes from Jews.
25 Three times I was beaten with rods by the Romans.
Once I was stoned by my enemies.
Three times I was shipwrecked.
I have spent a night and a day
in the open sea.
26 On frequent journeys, I faced
dangers from rivers,
dangers from robbers,
dangers from my own people,
dangers from the Gentiles,
dangers in the city,
angers in the open country,
dangers on the sea,
and dangers among false brothers;
27 labor and hardship,
many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst,
often without food, cold, and lacking clothing.

I John 2: 28 So now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He
appears we will have boldness and not be ashamed before Him at His
coming.

Philippians 3: 20 our citizenship is in heaven, FROM WHICH we also
eagerly WAIT FOR a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. 21 He will transform
the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious
body.

  1. Mark Mcculley Says:

Psalm 102: 25 Long ago You established the earth,
also the heavens are the work of Your hands.
    26 The earth and the heavens will perish, but You will endure;
all of them will wear out like clothing.
27 But and Your years will never end.

At least I am not lawless like those people, at least I am not self-righteous like those people?
Tianqi Wu–What’s the catch here, then? What’s the difference between the “tax collectors and sinners” and “scribes and Pharisees” if both were naturally blind to the reality of their own sin and need a supernatural power to even see this?
The difference is not “(self-)righteous” vs “(self-cognizant)
sinners”, but the sinners Jesus did not come to effectually call vs the sinners Jesus came to effectually call. The difference does not lie in the sinner’s attitude to God, but in God’s sovereign purpose of election.
Even though every sinner is need of salvation, Jesus did not come to save every sinner. God’s grace is not universal. It does NOT HAVE TO be universal, precisely because grace is owed to nothing in man, neither the “highly esteemed things” among men, nor the most common quality of “being a sinner like other humans”

  2. Mark Mcculley Says:

    no need for religion
    we have a justice system
our justice system is a our religion
our sacred outlaw can escalate violence anytime he wants
    against us on our behalf

Caiphas–let’s agree to have him die as a means so that the rest of us don’t panic

John 11: 49 One of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all! 50 You’re not considering that it is to your advantage that one die for the people

  3. Mark Mcculley Says:

Those who don’t think about their sins don’t need Jesus to save them from their sins. They claim that at least they are not self-righteous. They think they were born justified, and that they were never for a moment under God’s wrath. They even deny that the person with out sin who is both God and man was ever under God’s wrath because of sins (our sins, imputed to Christ. )
Those who think the covid virus is a hoax don’t need any solution for a problem they don’t have. These self-righteous people save their panic for what would happen if their neighborhood changed and allowed sinners to move into nearby homes.
Mark 2: 17 Jesus told them, “Those who are well don’t need a doctor, but sick do need a doctor I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Colossians 3:5 Greed is idolatry https://oldlife.org/2016/03/01/lord-i-know-already-help-me-do/

  4. Mark Mcculley Says:

In early Roman religion “sacer” denotes anything “set apart” and has
BOTH the sense of “sacred” and also “cursed”. The sacred outlaw is defined in legal terms as someone who can be killed without the killer being regarded as a murderer AND ALSO as a person who cannot be sacrificed. The sacred outlaw is someone OUTSIDE THE LAW. With respect to certain magistrates (cops, the president) the concepts of sovereign and sacred immunity are identical—-not the Lord’s anointed, but the “enemy of your enemy”. Unless he’s your friend, your enemies will get you. But no panic, he has been chosen to panic you about the other guy.

  5. Mark Mcculley Says:

    I Corinthians 15: Sown in corruption, raised in incorruption;
    43 sown in dishonor, raised in glory;
    sown in weakness, raised in power;
44 sown a natural body, raised a spiritual body.
….53 For this corruptible must be clothed
    with incorruptibility,
and this mortal must be clothed
    with immortality.

Is the glorified resurrected body a second different body?
When we have that glorified penis (or glorified vagina), will we be
more or less enchanted and ignorant?
We will certainly be less hypocritical and pretentious.

    The spectacle of
    old people’s useless bodies
–lack of “FITNESS for the economy”

Will the spectacle of glorified bodies
    be more useful
    a means to an end
or is a glorified body an end in itself

2 Corinthians 5: We groan in this body, desiring to put on our
dwelling from heaven, 3 When we are clothed, we will not be found
naked. 4 We groan…. because we do not want to be unclothed but
clothed, in order that mortality be swallowed up by life.

  6. Mark Mcculley Says:

The end always justifies the means.
Romans 3: 3 If some did not believe, will their unbelief CANCEL God’s faithfulness? 4 Absolutely not! God must be true, even if everyone is a liar, as it is written: In order that you be justified in Your words and triumph when You judge.
5 But if our unrighteousness highlights God’s righteousness, what are we to say….7 If my lie is a means that God’s truth is amplified to
His glory, why am I still judged as a sinner? 8 Why not say, just as
some people slander us , “Let us do what is evil as a means so
    that….we can stop abortion…..
In the last four years McConnel has not but in the next he will…

  7. Mark Mcculley Says:

Matthew 5: 4 Those who mourn are blessed,
    for they will be comforted.
    5 The gentle are blessed,
for they will inherit the earth.

Philippians 3: 20 but our commonwealth is from heaven. From there we eagerly wait here for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

”1) Caesar goes out with his army; (2) they dominate the enemy; (3)
they return in glorious triumph; and (4) the people welcome Caesar as their savior. So Paul cleverly hacks this system and declares that we await the sovereign Jesus “from there.” Caesar’s promise of domination does not make us wait in eager expectation. No, Paul explains, we have stopped waiting for that kind of spectacle. We are looking the other way, in Christ’s direction
